Extremely Important โ Very Short Reporting Window
Tamil Nadu's original Round 1 schedule had proposed result publication on 21 August, but counselling activities were subsequently extended and the actual GQ/MQ result has now appeared on 27 August.
The currently available official Round 1 schedule still states:
- Provisional allotment order download: up to 28 August 2026, 12 Noon
- Joining at allotted college: up to 28 August 2026, 5 PM
As of the latest official check, no later MBBS/BDS joining-extension notice is visible on the Selection Committee portal.
โ ๏ธ Candidates allotted a seat should therefore not wait for an expected extension.

Two Separate Results โ Do Not Mix Them
Tamil Nadu has published separate allotment lists for:
Government Quota
This covers the applicable Government Quota admission pool including:
- Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges
- Government Dental Colleges
- Government Quota seats in Self-Financing Medical/Dental Colleges
- Government Quota seats in State Private Universities
- ESIC K.K. Nagar route where applicable
- Other institutional/special Government Quota routes according to eligibility
Management Quota
The Management Quota result is separate and includes applicable:
- Management seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges
- Management seats in Dental Colleges
- Minority routes
- NRI routes
- Institution-specific categories where officially applicable
HGE will keep GQ and MQ cutoffs separate.
A Management Quota closing rank must not be compared directly with Government Quota closing rank.
Category-Wise Cutoff Interpretation
Tamil Nadu uses a detailed reservation structure.
Students should compare their result using:
College + Course + Quota + Allotted Category + Round
Main vertical categories include:
- OC
- BC
- BCM
- MBC/DNC
- SC
- SCA
- ST
Horizontal/special routes such as:
- PwBD
- Ex-Servicemen
- Sports
- 7.5% Government School Reservation
must remain separately analysed.
A candidate's personal community category and the category under which the seat was actually allotted may differ where the candidate secured a higher/open-merit seat.
For cutoff extraction, the actual allotted seat category is the critical field.
7.5% Government School Reservation Is Separate
Tamil Nadu's 7.5% preferential reservation for Government School students has its own allotment process/list and should not be merged into the ordinary Government Quota cutoff calculation.
Similarly:
- Sports
- Ex-Servicemen
- PwBD
must remain separate horizontal/special analyses.
What Allotted Candidates Should Do Now
- Open the official Tamil Nadu UG counselling portal.
- Login using your registered credentials.
- Download the provisional allotment order immediately.
- Confirm:
- college,
- course,
- quota,
- allotted category,
- fee payable,
- reporting instructions.
- Pay the required tuition fee where the portal requires payment before allotment-order download.
- Carry all original certificates to the allotted institution.
- Carry scanned copies of the originals as required.
- Complete certificate verification at the allotted college.
- Complete admission before the deadline printed in the allotment order.
Tuition Fee Before Downloading Allotment Order
The official Round 1 instructions state that candidates allotted:
- MBBS seats in all colleges/categories, and
- BDS seats in Government Dental Colleges
must pay the applicable tuition fee online before downloading the provisional allotment order.
For BDS seats in Self-Financing Dental Colleges, tuition-fee payment follows the separate prescribed process at the institution.
Candidates should ensure adequate banking limits before attempting the transaction.
Original Documents Are Mandatory
Tamil Nadu Selection Committee states that certificate verification is conducted at the selected/allotted college.
Candidates must personally produce their original certificates at the time of joining.
Failure to report to the allotted institution before the specified deadline can lead to cancellation of selection/admission.
If You Did Not Get a Seat
Do not judge your Round 2 chances only from the overall Round 1 result.
Round 2 movement will depend on:
- candidates who do not join;
- resignations/free-exit consequences according to the prospectus;
- upgradation;
- surrendered/vacant seats;
- newly added or withdrawn seats;
- quota-specific vacancies;
- category-specific vacancies;
- fresh virtual vacancy;
- Minority/NRI vacancy position.
The Tamil Nadu Round 2 vacancy/virtual vacancy matrix will therefore be the most important next update.
If You Got a Seat But Want Upgrade
Before entering Round 2, compare:
- Your present allotted college
- Your present quota
- Your category
- Round 1 closing position of higher preferences
- Fees
- Bond/service conditions
- Round 2 vacancy
- Exit/upgradation rules in the prospectus
Do not surrender a useful seat based only on an expected cutoff drop.
Important Result Analysis Note
Tamil Nadu's official result PDFs are currently linked and confirmed on the primary Selection Committee portal.
However, during HGE's latest verification the two large result PDFs intermittently timed out when fetched directly.
Therefore, HGE should not publish unverified college/category cutoff numbers from secondary copies.
The correct detailed cutoff analysis should be generated directly from the complete official GQ and MQ result files once stable retrieval is available.
This protects students from mismatched:
- college,
- community,
- quota,
- minority,
- NRI,
- special-category
cutoff interpretation.

Allotted candidates should act immediately.
The currently published timetable leaves a very short gap between the actual result release on 27 August and the stated joining deadline of 28 August 2026 at 5 PM.
Until an official extension is published, students should treat the existing deadline as binding.
For Round 2 chances, wait for the official vacancy/virtual vacancy matrix and compare your exact:
Course + College + GQ/MQ + Category + Round 1 closing position.
