Major Karnataka NEET UG 2026 update: Karnataka Examinations Authority has published the Second Provisional Round 1 allotment for MBBS and BDS on 27 August 2026.

What Has KEA Released?

The official UGNEET 2026 portal now shows, at the top:

These new files appear above the earlier:

• KEA counselling Exit link
• 24 August First Round further-process notice

Therefore candidates should use the 27 August second provisional allotment, not the 23 August provisional list, when checking their current Round 1 position.

Why Has Karnataka Round 1 Been Reprocessed?

KEA had provided an exit facility for candidates who had secured MBBS/BDS seats through:

• MCC counselling
• another State counselling

and wanted to leave Karnataka counselling.

The exit window was eventually extended up to:

27 August 2026 — 7:00 AM

KEA had indicated that seats released by exiting candidates would be added back to the available pool before Round 1 allotment was processed again.

The newly published Second Provisional Result is the result of that updated Round 1 processing stage.

Every Candidate Should Check the Result Again

Even if you already checked the 23 August provisional allotment, check again.

Your current position may be:

• unchanged
• upgraded to a higher preference
• newly allotted
• shifted to another eligible category/quota
• changed due to released seats
• still without a seat

Do not assume your 23 August allotment automatically continues unchanged.

Karnataka MBBS Quota Analysis — Why One Common Cutoff Is Misleading

Karnataka has one of India's most complex NEET UG seat structures.

Different candidates compete through different pools including:

• Government seats in Government Medical Colleges
• Government quota seats in Private Medical Colleges
• Private/Open seats
• Religious Minority seats
• Linguistic Minority seats
• NRI seats

Therefore there is no single “Karnataka NEET UG cutoff” that correctly describes every seat.

For admission-chance analysis, always use:

College + Quota + Category + Round + Closing Rank

Government Medical College vs Government Quota in Private College

These are not the same thing.

A candidate may receive:

Government seat in a Government Medical College

or:

Government quota seat in a Private Medical College

Both may be labelled through Government-related KEA seat categories, but:

• college ownership differs
• fee structure can differ
• competition can differ
• preference pattern can differ

Never compare them only by the word “Government”.

Private/Open MBBS — Analyse Separately

Private/Open seat competition can extend considerably deeper than Government quota because:

• fees are higher
• eligibility pool differs
• candidate preferences differ

Students outside the Government MBBS range may therefore still have realistic options under Private/Open routes, depending on rank and budget.

But do not choose a private seat without checking the official fee structure.

Minority Seats — Keep Separate

What Did the Exit Process Mean for Admission Chances?

The most important consequence of the KEA exit process is that candidates holding both:

• an MCC/other-State seat, and
• a Karnataka counselling position

could leave KEA.

When those candidates exit, their Karnataka seats/options can potentially create upward movement.

This is why the Second Provisional Result can differ from the original 23 August result.

Candidates Who Previously Had No Seat

Check again immediately.

A seat released by an exiting candidate can potentially move through the merit/option chain and create a new allotment further down.

A candidate who had no seat on 23 August may now have a seat.

Candidates With a Lower Preference

Check whether you have been upgraded.

If a higher-preference seat became available and you were the next eligible candidate according to rank/category/quota and option order, your allotment may improve.

Candidates Whose Seat Did Not Change

That does not mean the reprocessing did not affect the counselling.

It simply means no higher eligible preference became available to you under the current seat position.

Candidates Still Without a Seat

Do not conclude that Karnataka counselling is finished.

The Second Provisional Result is still not the final counselling cycle.

• final Round 1 reconciliation
• non-joining
• subsequent surrender/resignation as permitted
• Round 2 vacancies
• seat additions or withdrawals
• category conversion where applicable

Round 2 Admission Chance — How to Judge Correctly

Do not ask only:

“My AIR is X; can I get Karnataka MBBS?”

Instead compare:

Your Rank → Exact Category → Exact Quota → Target College → Current Closing Position

Stronger Upgrade Position

Your later-round chance deserves close attention if your rank is only slightly outside the current closing rank of your exact target:

College + Quota + Category

Moderate Gap

Broaden choices across:

• Government Medical Colleges
• Government quota in Private colleges
• Private/Open seats if affordable
• Minority routes if eligible
• BDS if genuinely acceptable

Large Gap

Do not depend on a dramatic cutoff fall.

Build a broader realistic strategy rather than relying only on one dream college.

MBBS and BDS Must Be Analysed Separately

KEA has published separate Second Provisional lists for:

MEDICAL

and

DENTAL

BDS generally operates at different rank and demand levels.

Do not use a BDS allotment range to estimate MBBS admission chances.

Likewise, add/retain BDS only if you genuinely want dental admission.

Important: This Is Still Provisional

The official KEA heading specifically identifies this as the:

Second Provisional Result

It is not yet labelled the Final Round 1 Medical/Dental Result.

However, the newly linked 27 August result-note PDF and the MBBS/BDS allotment PDFs were intermittently timing out during direct retrieval.

Therefore no reporting, objection or fee-payment deadline from those PDFs should be guessed.

Follow the exact deadline only after it is readable/confirmed through KEA.
