Major Karnataka MBBS/BDS update: Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released the UGNEET 2026 First Round Provisional Seat Allotment Lists for both Medical and Dental courses.

Critical Objection Deadline

KEA prints the following instruction directly on the MBBS provisional allotment list:

Any objection can be mailed to KEA before 4:00 PM on 24 August 2026.

Candidates who detect a genuine discrepancy should therefore act today.

Government-Quota Seats in Private Medical Colleges

The result demonstrates why Karnataka counselling cannot be analysed simply as “Government college vs Private college”.

Government-quota MBBS seats are also allotted in private medical colleges.

The fee column for these seats is different from regular Government-college MBBS seats, so students must check both quota and fee, not merely the institution name.

St. John's Medical College — Private/Open Pattern

The provisional list shows St. John's MBBS Private/Open allotments very early in the ranking sequence.

for MBBS Private/Open seats in the early portion of the list.

This illustrates the very high preference for St. John's even under its private-seat structure.

Important Fee Difference Seen in the Result

The official provisional allotment itself displays the applicable course fee.

• Government medical-college MBBS: ₹64,350
• Government-quota seats at some private institutions: around ₹1.5 lakh
• St. John's Private/Open MBBS: around ₹8.1 lakh

Candidates must verify the fee printed against their own allotment, because Karnataka has multiple seat types and the fee varies substantially.

Do not assume that every seat in a private college carries the same fee.

Karnataka Category Codes — Do Not Over-Simplify

The provisional result uses KEA's detailed allotted-category codes.

Examples already visible include:

For HGE data processing, these should not be collapsed prematurely.

The correct data structure should retain:

Vertical Category + Rural/Kannada/HK/special component + Quota/Seat Type

How Students Should Interpret Their Provisional Allotment

If You Received Your Top Preference

This is a strong indication that your current option order worked as intended.

Still check:

• category
• quota
• fee
• course
• college code

before assuming everything is correct.

If You Received a Lower Preference

Do not immediately conclude that your higher choices are impossible.

Round movement can happen because of:

• MCC AIQ admissions
• non-reporting
• candidate choice decisions
• upgrades
• seat surrender
• category movement
• vacancy changes

Your Round 2 possibilities should be judged against the actual Round 1 closing ranks, not simply this initial provisional result.

If You Received No MBBS Seat

Do not delete your existing higher preferences.

Candidates near the eventual closing rank of acceptable colleges may still benefit from movement in subsequent rounds.

Also review whether your choice list was broad enough across:

• Government colleges
• Government quota in private colleges
• Private/Open seats
• Minority seats
• NRI/NRI-Ward routes where eligible

If Your Category or Quota Looks Wrong

This is exactly why the provisional stage matters.

Check the allotment immediately and raise a genuine objection with KEA before:

MBBS vs BDS

KEA has issued MBBS and BDS provisional allotments separately.

Students interested in both courses should not analyse BDS movement using MBBS closing ranks.

The preference behaviour, number of seats, fees and allotment depth differ substantially.

as separate datasets.

Do not push this provisional result directly into the production Predictor as final 2026 Round 1 cutoff.

Instead:

2. Extract college, AIR, course, category, fee and allotment status.
3. Map KEA course codes to HGE master codes.
4. Preserve exact KEA category codes.
5. Separate Government, Private/Open, Minority, NRI and other quota structures.
6. Flag this batch as PROVISIONAL.
7. Compare against the final allotment once KEA releases it.
8. Only then lock final 2026 Round 1 opening/closing ranks.

This is especially important because Karnataka has one of the most complex MBBS/BDS seat structures in India.
