Karnataka NEET UG 2026 Free Exit Open — MCC/Other-State Allottees Can Leave KEA Without Penalty

Important Karnataka MBBS/BDS counselling update: Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has activated the UGNEET 2026 counselling exit facility on 25 August 2026.

This is especially important for candidates who have secured a Medical/Dental seat through MCC or another State counselling and now want to leave the KEA counselling process.

KEA's Medical/Dental Round 1 allotment will be processed again after eligible exits, so the 23 August provisional result is not the final Round 1 position.

What Has KEA Published?

The official KEA UGNEET 2026 page now shows two important entries at the top:

• UGNEET-2026 — Exit from KEA Counselling Process Link — 25/08/2026
• UGNEET 2026 First Round Further Process Notice — 24/08/2026

This is a major change after the Medical/Dental provisional Round 1 allotment released on 23 August.

Who Should Use the Exit Facility?

The facility is relevant to candidates who have secured a Medical or Dental seat through MCC counselling or another State counselling and have decided to continue with that seat instead of remaining in KEA counselling.

Such candidates can use the KEA exit facility during the notified 25–26 August 2026 window.

Why Is KEA Giving a Free Exit?

Many candidates participate simultaneously in:

• MCC All India counselling
• Karnataka KEA counselling
• other State MBBS/BDS counselling

After the MCC Round 1 Final Result, some candidates now hold an MCC Medical/Dental seat while also remaining in Karnataka's candidate pool.

KEA is allowing those candidates to exit so their Karnataka seat/claim can be released before the final Round 1 Medical/Dental allotment is processed.

Very Important for Candidates Who Want the MCC Seat

If you have decided to join the seat allotted through MCC or another State:

1. Open the official KEA UGNEET exit link.
2. Log in using your KEA credentials.
3. Read the exit declaration carefully.
4. Select the applicable exit / Choice-4 option.
5. Complete the exit process within the official window.
6. Save the acknowledgement or screenshot after successful submission.

⚠️ Do not simply ignore Karnataka counselling because you received an MCC seat.

What Happens to the Vacated Seats?

Seats released after eligible candidates exit KEA counselling can return to the available seat pool.

KEA will then rerun the Medical/Dental First Round allotment using the updated vacancy position.

This can benefit candidates who did not receive a seat earlier or who were provisionally allotted a lower preference.

Can Candidates Change Their Existing Choices Before the Rerun?

The currently reported KEA process indicates that the rerun will use the options already entered by candidates.

Candidates should therefore not assume that they will receive another opportunity to add, delete or reorder MBBS/BDS choices before this rerun unless KEA separately activates such a facility.

Follow only the official KEA portal for any change in option-entry availability.

If You Are Staying in Karnataka Counselling

If you have not decided to exit KEA:

• do not use the exit facility accidentally
• keep checking the official UGNEET page
• retain your existing option-entry details
• wait for the revised/final Round 1 allotment

Because seats may be released by MCC/other-State allottees, your allotment can potentially improve during the rerun.

If You Had No Seat in the Provisional Result

Do not assume Round 1 is over.

The exit process can create additional vacancies.

An eligible candidate may receive:

• a new allotment, or
• a higher-preference allotment

when KEA reruns the Medical/Dental Round 1 process, depending on rank, category, quota and available seats.

If You Already Have a Provisional Karnataka Seat

Your 23 August allotment should still be treated as provisional.

After candidates exit and KEA reruns the process:

• your college may remain the same
• your allotment may improve to a higher preference
• your quota/category position may change where rules permit

Wait for KEA's revised/final Round 1 result before treating the current provisional allotment as the final admission position.

Karnataka Quota Structure — Check Carefully

KEA MBBS/BDS counselling contains multiple seat routes, including:

• Government seats
• Government quota seats in private colleges
• Private/Open seats
• Minority seats
• NRI
• NRI Ward
• St. John's specific routes
• applicable reservation/special-category seats

Therefore, when the rerun result is published, check:

College + Course + Quota + Allotted Category + Fee

rather than only the college name.

Important for MCC-Allotted Candidates

MCC has already published its Round 1 Final Result and started college reporting.

If you have chosen the MCC allotment over Karnataka:

• follow MCC reporting instructions
• complete the KEA exit correctly
• keep proof of the KEA exit
• avoid trying to retain two conflicting admission positions

What Students Should Do Now

Taking MCC / Other-State Seat

Complete the KEA exit process during 25–26 August.

Continuing With KEA

Do not exit. Wait for the revised/final Medical/Dental First Round allotment.

No Seat in KEA Provisional Result

Continue monitoring — vacancies released through this exit process can change Round 1 allotment movement.

Lower Preference Allotted

Do not cancel your Karnataka participation merely because the current provisional seat is lower than expected. The rerun may change the outcome.
