>
WBMCC has officially released the:
>
Provisional List of Candidates Eligible for Choice Filling in Round-1
>
Total Candidates in List: 9,431
>
List Date: 19 August 2026
What Has WBMCC Published?
The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee has published a 167-page provisional list of candidates eligible for Round 1 Choice Filling.
The official list contains:
- Serial Number
- All India Rank
- Candidate Name
- Category
- PwD Status
- Candidate Type
The list starts at:
Serial No. 1
and ends at:
Serial No. 9,431
Therefore the current provisional eligible pool contains:
9,431 candidates
Candidate Types Are Important
The official list does not treat every candidate identically.
The Candidate Type column includes routes such as:
- State Quota
- Private Management Only
Candidates must check the candidate type shown against their own record before preparing choices.
⚠️ Being included in the eligible list does not automatically mean that you are eligible for every Government, Private Management, NRI or special-category seat.
What Candidates Should Check Now
- Download the official WBMCC list.
- Search using your name or All India Rank.
- Verify your AIR.
- Check your category.
- Check PwD status.
- Check the Candidate Type column.
- Save a copy of the list.
- Review applicable Government / Private routes.
- Prepare a draft MBBS/BDS preference list.
- Follow WBMCC's separately notified live Choice Filling window and deadline.
Important — Eligible List Is Not the Admission Cutoff
This list identifies candidates eligible for the Round 1 choice process.
It is not:
- Round 1 college cutoff
- Closing rank
- Seat allotment result
- Admission confirmation
Hire Guide Education should calculate the 2026 West Bengal Round 1 cutoff only after the official seat allotment result is released.
Do Not Use AIR Alone for Choice Planning
A West Bengal choice strategy should consider:
AIR + Category + Candidate Type + Quota Eligibility + Seat Matrix + College Fees + Previous Official Closing Ranks + Genuine Preference
The Candidate Type field is particularly important because the official list distinguishes State Quota candidates from Private Management-only candidates.
Choice Filling Stage — Important HGE Data Rule
The document is titled:
Provisional List of Candidates Eligible for Choice Filling in Round-1
That confirms the eligible candidate pool.
However, HGE should not invent a Choice Filling closing time from this list.
The dashboard should move to:
Eligible List Published / Choice Filling Next
until the current WBMCC Choice Filling portal/schedule provides the controlling opening and closing time.

Hire Guide Education Advice
Check your Candidate Type before preparing choices.
For example, a candidate marked:
Private Management Only
should not create a strategy as though the candidate is eligible for normal State Quota Government seats.
The correct preparation flow is:
Eligible List → Candidate Type → Category → Seat Matrix → Fees → Choice Strategy → Official Choice Filling
